Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test News  :
Ahmedabad The state government plans to recruit about 14,000 teachers for its 34,000-odd schools across Gujarat during the upcoming academic session.
The recruitment drive to be carried out by the state’s Education Department is part of steps being taken by the state government to meet norms and guidelines laid down in the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

All recruitments will be done through Teachers Eligibility Test (TET).

“The TET for lower primary will be conducted either on May 27 or on the first Sunday of June followed by another test for upper primary schools. The additional 14,000 teachers will be employed as per rules laid down by RTE and National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE),” said principal secretary (primary education) R P Gupta.

At present, there are around 2,05,000 teachers the 34,000-odd schools run by the state government, municipal corporations and district panchayats in the state.

As per the state’s recruitment policy, 30 per cent of seats are reserved for female candidates.

Recently, the education department had divided the schools into lower and upper primary sections for better management and implementation of RTE Act. Lower primary schools will have classes from I to V while the upper primary section comprises classes VI-VIII.

Gupta claimed the fresh recruitment was taken up to fill vacancies arising out of shuffling of teachers into upper and lower primary schools, depending upon their qualifications.

Also, it will help meet the recommended teacher-student ratio in all schools. For lower primary schools where the number of students is less than 120, a teacher-student ratio of 1:30 will be followed. In schools that have 200 or more students, the ratio will be 1:40.

For upper primary schools, the desired teacher-student ratio is 1:35.

'Low result of Gujarat board's Std XII will increase admission woes'

'Low result of Gujarat board's Std XII will increase admission woes'

The result of class XII science stream announced by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) may reduce students' scope of studying at prestigious institutes like Indian Institute of Space and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology, Shriram Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Technology, to mention a few.

The reason is that the minimum requirement for admission at such institutes is 60% to 75% marks. In an official communiqué from Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), Dr Manish Doshi highlighted these details to show the grim side of the results, as around 35,000 students have received marks below the eligibility criterion.
"Around 29,000 students have failed in chemistry subject. Results of class XII science have been going down. In the 17 years of BJP rule in state, education of children has suffered the most. Government's Vidya sahayak scheme and fixed salary scheme are to be blamed," he said.
He also added that to save education from a bleak future, the Gujarat government should provide full salary to teachers

Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test News  :

(GTET - Gujarat TET : 50% Candidates clear TET Exam, For teachers selection - weightage of the TET is 70 per cent, while the rest 30 per cent weightage would be given to the educational qualification of job candidates )

AHMEDABAD: Less than half of the candidates aspiring to be appointed as teachers in schools in the state have been able to clear the mandatory Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) held by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB). As per the result announced by the board on Tuesday, only 48.68 per cent aspirants have cleared the test.
Chairman of GSHSEB R R Varsani said that 90,126 candidates had appeared for TET. Of these, 43,876 candidates cleared the entrance exam. Varsani claimed that the result was good considering the fact that the pass percentage was 50 per cent.
TET, recently made mandatory for candidates applying for position of teachers in the state, was conducted on December 18, 2011. The weightage of the TET is 70 per cent, while the rest 30 per cent weightage would be given to the educational qualification of job candidates.
Varsani said that result of 181 candidates has been withheld as they have not submitted documents supporting their applications. These candidates were allowed to appear for TET despite their failure to apply online for the test. Once their documents are received by the board, their results would be declared.
In addition, results of three candidates have been cancelled as they had made identification signs on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) test paper. This tantamounts to cheating hence the result was cancelled, a board official said.
