'Low result of Gujarat board's Std XII will increase admission woes'

'Low result of Gujarat board's Std XII will increase admission woes'

The result of class XII science stream announced by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) may reduce students' scope of studying at prestigious institutes like Indian Institute of Space and Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology, Shriram Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Technology, to mention a few.

The reason is that the minimum requirement for admission at such institutes is 60% to 75% marks. In an official communiqué from Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), Dr Manish Doshi highlighted these details to show the grim side of the results, as around 35,000 students have received marks below the eligibility criterion.
"Around 29,000 students have failed in chemistry subject. Results of class XII science have been going down. In the 17 years of BJP rule in state, education of children has suffered the most. Government's Vidya sahayak scheme and fixed salary scheme are to be blamed," he said.
He also added that to save education from a bleak future, the Gujarat government should provide full salary to teachers
