GTET:  Results raises concern over quality of teachers
Gujarat Teachers Eligibility Test - result Declared,
And only 3 percent candidates passed this Exam, Surprising Quality of techers -

Ahmedabad: The recent result of Gujarat Teacher’s Eligibility Test(GTET) has raised serious concerns over the quality of teachers in the state. Out of the 1.26 lakh teachers who appeared, only 4,029 have cleared their examination.

According to the senior officials, a total of 1,26,225 teachers of class I to V appeared for the exam and only 4,029 managed to clear it. Out of these 4,029 who cleared the exam, 832 teachers were from general category, 694 were from SC category, 601 from ST and the rest were from Socially and Educationally backward class.

The results have showcased the poor standard of the teachers in the state, officials said. It further raises concerns over the education system in the state.

The officials said that each general category teacher was required to get 90 right answers out of the 150, while the same for the reserved category students was only 82.

AHMEDABAD: The result of the teachers eligibility test has raised questions over the quality of teachers in the state. Of the 1.26 lakh teachers who appeared only 4,029 have cleared their examination.

Senior officials said that of the 1.26,225 teachers of class 1 to V who took their examination only 4029 cleared. Of these 4029 who cleared 832 were from general category, 694 were from Schedule caste category, 601 from Schedule tribe and the rest were from Socially and Educationally backward class.

Officials said that if this was the standard of the teachers one can imagine the students that they teach. Officials said that that ever since the Teachers eligibility has been introduced, the government has got to know the real standards of the teachers especially those who have dome their PTC courses. The officials said that each general category teacher was required to get 90 right answers out of the 150, while the same for the reserved category students was only 82.
